America's 1st Theme Park! Walter and Cordelia Knott - Founders of Knott's Berry Farm
The year was 1920 when Walter and Cordelia Knott moved to the then-sleepy community of Buena Park, Calif. to farm 20 acres of rented land. Today, that land is part of 160-acre Knott's Berry Farm, America's first theme park and the 12th most-visited amusement park in the country. And, while the Knott Family no longer owns the venerable attraction, the Knott spirit of hard work and down-home hospitality lives on in new owner Cedar Fair, L.P., who acquired Knott's Berry Farm in December 1997.

Adventures In Education® can open your mind, expand your spirit and, perhaps, even touch your heart.

There are 32 Adventures In Education® Tour packages and 6 Scout Tour Packages. We strive to provide artifacts and experiences to supplement your classroom studies, bringing these subjects to life for the students! Trip Tips
AAA
Many AAA offices sell discounted Knott's Berry Farm admission tickets to their members. If you are a AAA member, check with your local office for availability. Tickets must be purchased at a AAA office. AAA members must show their cards at the Knott's ticket booth; this special is not available when ordering print-at-home tickets from the Knott's website.
AccommodationsMore than one day is recommended to completely experience Knott's Berry Farm and Soak City. The most convenient accommodation is the Knott's Berry Farm Resort Hotel . Packages with tickets and accommodations are available. We also list a variety of hotels to stay at for the Soak City - Orange County , Palm Springs , and San Diego locations. Early reservations are advised because packages are in demand. If you would like to make reservations for the Knott's Berry Farm Resort Hotel, you may contact the Reservations Office at (866) 752-2444.
Adverse Weather Conditions/RainRides will close due to weather conditions, particularly rain, high winds and/or lightning. A specific answer as to which rides close or remain open is not possible because varying degrees of inclement weather cause different effects on different rides. Those rides affected the most are the roller coasters and the high rides. Knott's Berry Farm makes every effort to reopen the rides as quickly and safely as possible after the adverse weather conditions cease. Sorry, no rainchecks or refunds.
Please remember, it is not possible to specifically state which rides will be closed at a specific time because the varying degrees of inclement weather cause different effects on different rides.
Attendance/Best Days to VisitKnott's Berry Farm does not release attendance figures until the completion of its operating season. At that time, combined attendance for Cedar Fair Entertainment Company's parks will be released.
Knott's Berry Farm recommends visiting on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, when attendance is lower. Contrary to popular belief, holidays such as Memorial Day and Labor Day do not result in unusually large crowds. The months with the lowest attendance are May, June and September.
Automatic Tellers (ATMs)
ATMs are available (4) at the following locations:

For the comfort of all park guests, smoking is permitted in designated areas only. The designated smoking areas are at the following locations:
- Near Grand Entrance
- Near Jaguar
- Near Perilous Plunge
- Near Western Entrance
Knott's Berry Farm has a dress code designed to maintain the park's family atmosphere. Shirts and shoes must be worn at all times, including entering or leaving. Swimwear must be sufficiently covered. Profanity, obscene gestures, obscene statements, pictures of illegal substances, motorcycle colors, insignias of para-military groups, all gang related items on clothing and costumes or disguises that conceal identity are prohibited. Knott's Berry Farm reserves the right to refuse admission to anyone who refuses to comply with the dress code summarized above. If you have any concerns about your dress, please contact the Park Operations Office.
NOTICE: It is illegal to carry a firearm, deadly weapon or dangerous ordnance anywhere on Knott's Berry Farm property. Unless otherwise authorized by law, no person shall knowingly possess, have under the person's control, convey or attempt to convey a deadly weapon or dangerous ordnance on Knott's Berry Farm property.
Recommended Clothing: Dress for comfort. Cotton is practical, since it's cool and dries quickly after water rides. Sneakers are the best footwear; make sure they're broken in to prevent blistering. Be prepared for all types of weather. Conditions can often change unexpectedly. Knott's Berry Farm rents lockers to store extra clothes.
First AidKnott's Berry Farm has a First Aid station located in Ghost Town near the Ghost Town Bakery. The First Aid Station offer the convenience of warming bottles and providing privacy for nursing. Medications that need refrigeration can also be stored there.

Cash, money orders, traveler's checks and credit cards as follows:
- Checks : We're sorry, but personal checks are NOT accepted for park admission. With a valid driver's license, traveler's checks up to $100 bill denominations ($200 total) can be used to purchase park tickets.
- Credit Cards : VISA, MasterCard, Discover, American Express: park admission, restaurants and most gift shops & quick service food locations.
- Cash : US cash is accepted at all Knott's Berry Farm locations. Large denominations of U.S. currency can be exchanged at the Information Center.
Knott's Berry Farm offers a vast amount of games throughout the park from guessing games to electronic shooting galleries. Please check at the stands for details.
There are several arcades located in the park: Bandit Bob's Arcade (Ghost Town), Buffalo Nickel Arcade (Next to Johnny Rockets), and Casa Arcade (Fiesta Village). The majority of arcade games will be state-of-the-art electronic games.
Group SalesKnott's Berry Farm offers discounted tickets for groups of 15 or more. If you have questions about an order you've already placed, please call (714) 220-5211.
Guests of Exceptional Size
All passenger restraint systems, including lap bars, shoulder harnesses and seatbelts, must be positioned, fastened and tightened to allow guests to ride.
Due to rider restraint system requirements, guests of exceptional size may not be accommodated on some of our rides. This may apply, but not be limited to, males who exceed 6'2", and those who exceed 225 pounds, have a 40" waistline or 52" chest or females who exceed 200 pounds or wear size 18 or larger. Each person has different body proportions, so it is impossible to determine exact size and weight.
Maximum recommended weight limits are posted on most Knott's Berry Farm Theme Park and Soak City attractions. You may enter the ride via the exit to ensure the restraints function properly prior to waiting in line.
Laser PointersFor safety reasons, laser pointers are not allowed at Knott's Berry Farm.
Lockers
Lockers are located all throughout the park for storage of items. The all-day rental fee for these lockers varies per location (Soak City and Knott's Berry Farm Theme Park). Change machines are located near the lockers. All-day locker rental is available at Soak City. Knott's Berry Farm assumes no liability for items in the lockers. The Rental Center is located at Indian Trails (near Grande Entrance).
Lost & FoundAll items found at Knott's Berry Farm are turned in to our Lost & Found Department (Information Center at the Grand Entrance). If you lose an item on a ride, we will search for the article as soon as possible. For safety reasons, and in order to keep the ride in operation, an immediate search may not be possible. Please visit Lost & Found to complete paperwork to ensure your item is returned to you if it is found. All found property turned in to the Lost and Found Department is returned to its rightful owner if proper identification can be established. If you lost an item at Knott's Berry Farm during your visit, you may call our General Phone Number (714) 220-5220 to contact our Lost and Found Office.
Season Pass IDs turned in to Lost & Found are taken to the Information Center located at the Grand Entrance.
Recommended Meal TimesAvoid eating lunch during the noon hour, or dinner at 5 p.m. Ride some of the more popular rides at this time, while many other people eat their meals.
Recreational WheelsThe use of roller skates, roller blades, scooters, bicycles, tricycles and skate boards is not permitted on Knott's Berry Farm property.
Re-entering the parkIf you leave the park and plan to return that day, please get your hand stamped before you exit.
RentalsFor added convenience, Knott's Berry Farm offers a rental fleet of Strollers, Manual Wheelchairs and Electric Convenience Vehicles (ECVs) that may be rented on a one-day basis. Overnight or multiple rental days are not available. Rentals are available inside Ghost Town next to the Geode Shop for Strollers and Manual Wheelchairs and are on a first-come, first-served basis. ECV rentals are also available only at the Front Rental Center. If guests are in need of these convenience items, we strongly recommend that they provide their own. There is absolutely no guarantee that vehicle choice will be available upon arrival on the day of their visit.
*A deposit is required for stroller, manual wheelchair and ECV rental. The deposit is returned when the guest returns the rented item to the rental location. Driver's license cannot be left in lieu of deposit. Credit cards are accepted for rentals and deposits.
Reservations for ECVs are available for overnight resort guests, but in limited quantity depending on fleet availability. Reservations must be made a minimum of 24 hours in advance by calling (714) 220-5495. Once the reservation list is filled, no more reservations will be accepted.
Guests without reservations may inquire as to vehicle availability at the Front Rental Center on the day of visit. If a vehicle is not available, guests may leave their name and cell phone number to be called for the next available vehicle. Please note: ECVs are very popular and may be “sold out” and no vehicles will be available.
Important information about ECVs: Children under the age of 16 are not permitted to operate this vehicle. Operators between the ages of 16 and 21 must have a valid driver's license and signature for parental consent. ECVs are for single riders only with a weight limit of 325 lbs. Additional riders of any age are not permitted. ECVs may not be operated in rainy conditions and will not be rented to guest during rain showers.
Sun ProtectionPack sunscreen. Even on a cloudy day, the sun's rays can pierce the clouds and reflect off the midways. If it's a hot day, remember to drink extra fluids and take cover periodically in the shade.
It's easy to get to Knott's Berry Farm!Knott's is located just 10 minutes from Disneyland Park and 30 minutes from both John Wayne/Orange County Airport and downtown Los Angeles. The Park is situated on Beach Blvd. in Buena Park, one mile south of the 91 (Artesia) Freeway and two miles south of the 5 (Santa Ana) Freeway.

Be Aware of Greek Theatre Traffic
The 2011 Greek Theatre season runs from April-October. Heavy traffic on concert nights may affect how quickly you are able to reach the Observatory. Admission and Parking Are Free
Those wishing to visit Griffith Observatory may drive up to the Observatory and park in the parking lot or on the adjacent roads. No shuttles are required. Please be aware that most mobile phones seem to have difficulty getting a clear signal while in and around the Observatory. This appears to be more of an issue for voice calls than for data reception.
Weekend Public Bus Service
The LADOT Observatory Shuttle operates every Saturday and Sunday, except holidays, between 10:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. from the Vermont/Sunset Metro Red Line station to the Observatory. There is NO parking available in or around the Metro station.

Whats New at Hollywood Park
INGLEWOOD , Calif. (March 10, 2011) — The 72nd running of the $500,000 Hollywood Gold Cup tops a stakes schedule worth more than $5.2 million during the 2011 Spring/Summer meet at Hollywood Park.
The 54-day season begins Thursday, April 21 and continues through Sunday, July 17.
A Grade I at 1 ¼ miles over Cushion Track, the Gold Cup, which was won a year ago by 8-1 shot Awesome Gem, will be run Saturday, July 9, and is part of a stakes doubleheader. The card will also feature the $200,000 Swaps Stakes, a Grade II for 3-year-olds at 1 1/8 miles.
The American Oaks, which will celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2011, will be contested Saturday, July 16 and is the last of seven Grade I's to be offered during the meet.
An invitational for 3-year-old fillies at 1 ¼ miles on turf, the American Oaks anchors a program that also includes the $200,000 A Gleam Handicap for older females at seven furlongs and the $100,000 Landaluce for 2-year-old fillies at six furlongs.
The $300,000 Shoemaker Mile, a Grade I on turf, will be run Saturday, July 2, along with the $250,000 Triple Bend Handicap, a Grade I at seven furlongs.
Two other grass stakes will be contested over the Fourth of July weekend – the $70,000-added Robert K. Kerlan Memorial Handicap at six furlongs will be run Sunday, July 3 and the $150,000 Royal Heroine Mile, a Grade II for older fillies and mares, is part of a special holiday card the following day.
The Hollywood Gold Cup and American Oaks programs are among 10 multiple stakes days at the meeting. The first is Gold Rush XII . The annual showcase for California breds will be held Saturday, April 23.
Run at 1/18 miles, the $150,000 Snow Chief Stakes is the main Gold Rush event. The other notable stakes are the $125,000 Melair, $125,000 B. Thoughtful and $125,000 Tiznow.
In addition to the simulcast of the Kentucky Derby, Saturday, May 7 will feature the $150,000 Mervyn LeRoy Handicap, the $100,000 Senorita Stakes and the $70,000-added Cool Frenchy Stakes. The LeRoy, a Grade II at 1 1/16 miles, is the first prep for the Gold Cup.
Along with the simulcast of the Belmont Stakes, the primary race Saturday, June 11 will be the $250,000 Charles Whittingham Memorial Handicap, a Grade I at 1 ¼ miles on turf. There will be three other stakes run that afternoon – the $150,000 Honeymoon Handicap, the $100,000 Affirmed Handicap and the $100,000 Cinderella Stakes.
A Grade II at 1 1/8 miles, the $150,000 Californian, which was won by heavily favored Rail Trip last year, will be run Saturday, June 4.
For the first time since 2007, a filly or mare not named Zenyatta will win the $250,000 Vanity Handicap. A Grade I at 1 1/8 miles, the Vanity will be offered Saturday, June 18. The 2010 Horse of the Year, Zenyatta, who was recently bred to Bernardini, won the Vanity an unprecedented three times in succession (2008-2010).
A race won by nine champions during its illustrious history, the $150,000 American Handicap will be shortened to one mile on turf when it is run for the 72nd time Saturday, May 28. A Grade II, the American has not been run at a distance other than 1 1/8 miles since Noor won at 1 ¼ miles in 1950.
The stakes schedule commences April 21 with the $70,000-added Harry Henson Stakes. Named in honor of the legendary track announcer who worked at Hollywood Park from 1958-1982, the Henson is for 3-year-olds at six furlongs on turf.

How many races does Hollywood Park run each day?
Generally there are eight live races weekdays and nine races on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
What time do mutuel windows open?
Mutuel windows generally open a ½ hour prior to the first simulcast race. Patrons can wager on simulcast races from around the country and advance wager on the day's live races as well. Early Bird wagering is available in the Hollywood Park Casino.
Is there a minimum age requirement to enter?
There are no age restrictions. Children 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult and are admitted free. Patrons must be at least 18 years of age to wager.
Do horses race in bad weather?
Even though the weather in Southern California is almost always beautiful, horses do run in inclement weather. The main track at Hollywood Park is Cushion Track, a synthetic all-weather surface that is safer and more consistent than conventional dirt surfaces. Hollywood Park became the first California racetrack to install a synthetic racing surface following the 2006 spring/summer meet. Races are rarely cancelled because of bad weather.
Does Hollywood Park have free handicapping seminars?
Free handicapping seminars are held every Saturday and Sunday at the Paddock Tote Board one hour before first post. Saturday it's the Inside Scoop with Kurt Hoover and Sunday it's the Pace Pals Seminar hosted by Craig Peterson. Sunday mornings you can view the morning workouts and talk about racing at the Railbird Club from 7:30am to 9:30am. TVG analyst Rich Perloff is your host. Admission to the Rail Bird Club is free and so are the programs, coffee and Danish while supplies last. You can also join handicapper Nate Ware every Saturday and Sunday at Fans Forum on the second floor of the grandstand. Featured handicappers go over the day's race card at all the seminars.
